The Artist Behind the Work

Decals born in a working studio, not a print shop.

Julia has spent years teaching wheel throwing at craft centers across the country, writing the definitive beginner's guide to the potter's wheel, and exploring every tool that helps ceramic artists make more ambitious work.

Custom full-color ceramic decals became part of her own practice — a way to bring photographic detail, complex illustration, and full-color artwork onto fired clay. She built the decal service because she needed it herself, and because the existing options weren't built for artists.

The Process

From the wheel to the kiln — decals are part of the process.

01

Throw & glaze fire first

Decals go on as a third firing, over an already-fired glaze surface. Your existing claywork is the foundation.

02

Upload your design

Photographs, illustrations, patterns — the Magenta Palette CMYK process reproduces the full visible color spectrum onto mineral-toner decal paper.

03

We print & ship Letter sheets

Professionally printed, kiln-ready waterslide decal sheets. Ships in 5–7 days. No minimum orders, no setup fees.

04

Soak, slide & squeegee

The waterslide process takes minutes. Apply face-up to your glazed surface, remove air bubbles, and let dry before firing.

05

Fire to Cone 018

At 1470°F the decal permanently fuses to the glaze. The covercoat burns off completely, leaving a glass-like mineral surface.
